Potruding Female Anatomy

My female was on heat and its vagina was potruding and its almost a month now. Initially it was swelled but now its small but still potruding. What causes this? Will it be alright? The breeder said its the genetics. Is this normal? Someone told me that if i take it to the vet or SPCA they will euthanise it. Is this true?

Hi Masike

If a female goes on heat the first time, it usually swells up a lot bigger than normal. As she goes of again, it shrinks back again but very seldom back to the original size. If it looked like there was something hanging out of the vagina, she probably had prolapse, or something similar. This is where the vagina wall tears away from the tissue. In some cases it can be healed, but most of the time the vet steralise the female. According to the vet the female usually have complications during labour and you can loose the mother and the pups. The best advise is to contact a vet for professional advise.
